Who Gets the Most From a Plug-in Tucson in Colorado Springs
A plug-in hybrid pays off most when your daily miles fit inside its battery range and you can charge where you park.
- Short-haul commuters: A round trip from Briargate to downtown, or from Northgate to the Air Force Academy, can fit within the 32-mile electric range on a full charge.
- Homeowners with a garage: Overnight charging turns your driveway into your fuel station, so weekday driving costs you electricity rather than gasoline.
- Drivers without a garage: Public Level 2 stations around Colorado Springs can refill the battery in about two hours while you shop or work.
- Snow-season drivers: HTRAC AWD comes standard on every trim, so you never have to pick a higher trim to get winter traction for Monument Hill or Highway 24.
- Weekend adventurers: The gas engine takes over past the battery range, so trips to Pueblo, Cañon City or the high country need no charging stops.
Active-duty and veteran families at Fort Carson, Peterson, Schriever and the Academy can ask about our military program when shopping for a Tucson Plug-in Hybrid.

Choosing Between the SEL and Limited
The 2026 Tucson Plug-in Hybrid keeps things simple with two trims, both with the same powertrain, electric range and AWD.
- SEL, from $40,675: 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, 8-way power driver's seat with power lumbar, dual automatic climate control, hands-free smart liftgate with auto open, Bluelink+ and 18-inch alloy wheels.
- Limited, from $48,900: Adds leather-trimmed seats, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, Bose 8-speaker audio, 12.3-inch digital cluster, navigation, Highway Driving Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Surround View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, Digital Key 2 and 19-inch alloy wheels.
MSRP excludes freight, tax, title and license fees.
If your priority is electric commuting at the lowest price, the SEL delivers the full plug-in experience. Choose the Limited if you want premium materials and extra camera views for tight parking downtown. Colors and trims arrive on different schedules, so check with our team for what is on the lot now.

How the Plug-in Powertrain Works
The Tucson Plug-in Hybrid combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a 97-hp electric motor and a 13.8 kWh battery pack. Together they produce 268 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque, the most output in the Tucson family.
On a full charge, the SUV can drive as an EV, quietly and without using gas. Once the battery is depleted, it runs as a conventional hybrid, recapturing energy through regenerative braking on downhill grades like Ute Pass.
HTRAC all-wheel drive is standard, not optional, on both trims. A six-speed automatic with steering-wheel paddle shifters keeps acceleration smooth and predictable.
An AWD Lock function, Downhill Brake Control and Hill-start Assist Control are standard as well. The engine runs on regular unleaded, and the Tucson Plug-in Hybrid can tow up to 2,000 lbs with trailer brakes.

Electric Range, Fuel Economy and Charging
- Hybrid mode: EPA-estimated 35 city, 35 highway, 35 combined mpg.
- Electric mode: EPA-estimated 77 MPGe combined.
- Level 2 charging: About two hours at 240 volts through the 7.2 kW onboard charger.
The electric range covers the short trips where gas engines are least efficient. After that, the Tucson runs as a hybrid. Drivers who charge every night and keep most trips under 32 miles will use very little gas.
A full charge fits easily overnight at home or during a stop at a public Level 2 station. Learn more in our EV Hub charging guide, or ask our team about home charger options before you buy.
EPA estimates are for comparison only. Electric range drops in cold weather, and actual range and mpg vary with driving habits, temperature, elevation and battery condition.

Safety and Everyday Tech
The 2026 Hyundai Tucson earned a TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and every Plug-in Hybrid comes with Hyundai SmartSense. Standard features include:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian, cyclist and junction-turning detection.
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.
- Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Following Assist.
- Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist.
- Safe Exit Warning.
The Limited goes further with camera-based parking and lane-change help. Blind-Spot View Monitor shows a live image of the lane beside you when you signal. Surround View Monitor gives an overhead view for tight spaces, and Remote Smart Parking Assist can pull the SUV in or out of a spot while you stand outside.
Both trims use a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus 27W USB-C ports in both rows. Bluelink+ connected services come standard.
